kingofallasians
I have a torn ACL. If it needed surgery how much do you estimate it would cost in Thailand out of pocket?
donmuang37
Can't give you an exact estimate, but government hospitals are normally much cheaper than private ones. I recently hand shoulder surgery by a famous Thai doctor at Thammasat University Hospital for US$5,600. A very famous private hospital charges over US$12,000 for the same operation...BY THE SAME DOCTOR! Good luck! 1
vandeventer
It depends on which hospital you go to? Knee surgery should be no problem, but brain surgery is where I draw the line.

Searat7
I arrived here in July from USA with a cut in knee cartilage . I consulted 2 doctors, both of whom wanted to operate and put me on crutches for a month. The price at BCH was very reasonable at 250,000 b but the crutches were a big stumbling block. I found a great physical therapist at BCH and feel ok now but not perfect….this will keep me going till I return to USA early next year where I can look at more options . Your problem might be more severe than mine.
jerrymahoney
I have no info on current conditions but just to say that I had ACL reconstruction JAN 2007 here in Thailand and the knee still going fine to this day 15 years later.
spidermike007
I was told recently a full knee replacement was 300,000 to 400,000 at a private hospital. Seen higher prices online. The same orthopedic surgeon works at a public hospital and said likely around 200,000 baht there, including several nights of stay, during recuperation.
bluemoon58
I recently had an arthroscopy for a meniscus repair at a government hospital and including the MRI it all cost around 100,000 baht. It would have been a lot more at one of the private hospitals.

Privatd heslth care in Thailand has become quite costly. Care in a government hospital cost much less but that is not a good option for people who don't live here. (Language varriers, rex tsoe, long waits etc) If looking to travel abroad for this surgery, consider India

Sheryl
Just now, kingofallasians said: Is the quality in India good? There are some excellent international private hospitals there, and quite a few doctors with western training. Orthopedics is a particularly strong suit. Among the better private hospital chains are: Apollo, Fortis, Artemis, Medanta Some suggested ortho surgeons: https://www.artemishospitals.com/about-artemis-hospital/for-patients/our-doctors/i-p-s-oberoi https://www.maxhealthcare.in/doctor/sks-marya https://www.fortishealthcare.com/doctor/dr-kaushal-malhan-1720 above is by no means an exhaustive list, there are many
