Popular Post smedly
seems that an order came from the cops yesterday evening instructing every bar and entertainment venue to shut across the city at midnight, no explanation has been given for this but my guess is that it was linked to the removal of the Pattaya police chief - a do you know who I /we are kind of statement, either by him or his ranks, a very obvious abuse of power to issue such an order to businesses across the city who are legally allowed to open until 2am That's my take on it - I can think of no other reason for such a thing to happen

"However, Mrs. Amporn expressed concern about the current legal closing hours ... The right closing hours should be around 4 a.m., Mrs. Amporn stated. The current legal closing time is midnight, notes TPN media". https://thepattayanews.com/2022/05/28/walking-street-entertainment-venue-owner-petitions-for-4-a-m-legal-closing-time-to-align-with-official-nightlife-reopening-on-june-1st/ Edited September 19, 2022 by Liverpool Lou
biervoormij
Fabulous 103FM says it was to do with underage workers but think they may be just repeating what the police told them. It is talked about at about 1 minute into the video in the middle of the police chief story.

KhunBENQ
Sudden removal of Pattaya police chief yesterday. Obviously related to the suicide(?) of that woman being hunted by the Chinese trafficking gang. And then? New acting police boss in "bad mood"/show force or not familiar with the rules in sin city? https://thepattayanews.com/2022/09/18/pattaya-police-chief-removed-from-position-by-chonburi-provincial-police-commander/ Edited September 19, 2022 by KhunBENQ

tomyami
Typo Its more about police closing no explanation would have thought local govt had some clout Businesses those working in entertainment thrown under the bus again Lots have invested in reopening since covid police protect racket looking for a cut
SidJames
I bet you all the Thai bars on Pattaya Tai between 3rd Rd & the Suk were open until it suited them with bands often playing into the early hours. I would be most unhappy if I had a condo up there & liked an early night.

I have planned a full month starting on October 31st. But with bars closing in the "early evening" at midnight, I have to think twice if it isnt better to cancel the trip. Elkski
Compared to the Caribbean and my limited Thailand diving ( Pattaya, koh phi phi, Phucket) in Thailand, it rates very low. Been overfished and blown up! Wild fishing? Nope I can believe bars would be the goal of some guys.

From my own experence in what I have seen. There are a hell of a lot more people drinking in the bars than going on diving trips.
