Lunch fare: Thaksin and his sister Yingluck ordering food at the Cecil Street market in George Town.

By LIEW JIA XIAN

GEORGE TOWN: Penang’s famous hawker food proved too tempting for exiled VVIP siblings Thaksin and Yingluck Shinawatra.

The ex-Thai prime ministers were spotted at the Cecil Street market during peak lunch hour yesterday ordering koay teow th’ng and Chinese pasembur at about 1pm.

Earlier, they were seen at a foodcourt in Weld Quay.

There was no official confirmation on what their schedule was, with a source saying that it was a private holiday.

Just can't stay away from the ever present and manufactured conscious of anything Shinawatra.

More tabloid gossip than news worthy.

They ain't coming back and their seemingly outside manipulations will have little to do with any influence on the future Thai political charade - that is, unless they manipulate a favoured coup for their groups. Weirder things have happened.....

Nonetheless, let's get over 'em.........and move on to more viable alternatives.

Hardly a week goes by that there is no Shinawatra "news".

Does Thaksin really think he has a chance at running the country again without setting off another military coup that would eliminate him with maximum prejudice?

He might...

If he is delusional.

But he didn’t get to be a billionaire by being delusional.

He must have a plan that neutralizes the military while energizing his base in the Northeast and North.

i think he will make his move in the new year.

His spiritual advisors will tell him the auspicious time that will avoid bad ju-ju and lead to success.

His position of Lt Colonel in the RTP paid well and gave him a good start......????

Do some deeper research, he got handed a telecoms license by a scaly, ruthless, violent member of a past coup. Only one license issued, no bids etc.

All happened at a time when the Thai law was very specific - all telecoms operations have to be by the state.

He charged customers very high user rates, quickly he made a fortune.

Probably for a meet up with his followers. Not too far from the southern border.

Love this ....
Interpol anywhere?

Hope to see them both back in Thailand and back in office.  My favorites among all the regimes. I DID like the Abhisit regime. He was the ONLY one who ever mentioned making Thailand a welfare state. Badly needed.

He would have a fit if he saw all the cannabis shops around Bangkok

@bolt @couchpotato @Sparktrader So  typical of most posters on AN. Uninformed and not cute. Former PM Thaksin and former PM Yingluck are brother and sister.

Actually you have been taken in here..sad really (and not a cute post).

Of course they are siblings, and the article also reiterated that for the uninformed. But if you had looked at my post a bit longer, you would see I was taking the pi__, because as you saw, he is looking so decrepit these days.

He'd be fine - he'd just have them all shot.  And their families too.

If you are in Thailand your culture is Thai culture.

They are in Malaysia.

And much as I despise the pair of them what she is doing is not rude - it looks like she is just pointing to what she is ordering.  "Two of those please, and can you throw in an amnesty for the hair dye guy?  No?  Oh."

I can accept that. I do my best to fit in and be accepting and cooperative but no it is not our way. I am still free to notice it .

An educated woman beckons with an open hand.

Where are their masks by the way? Even if the Shinawatra's don't have the coronavirus should a woman be flapping her gums over food in a market gesturing with her rude crooked finger? Food to be served to many people invariably now covered with her flying aerosolized saliva particles.

Great! Those people just gave Penang and Penang food a bad taste for me...

Yingluck in that picture looks like she knows what she wants and how she wants it! ????
