BANGKOK (NNT) - A weather advisory for October 14 and 15 has been issued for the Northeast, Eastern, and Central regions. An increase in rainfall is expected, with heavy rains occurring in some places.

An intense low-pressure area prevailing over the upper portion of the Philippines is moving into the mid part of the South China Sea. There is a possibility for the low-pressure area to develop into a storm that will then move toward the coast in central Vietnam today or tomorrow (14 October). The storm or low-pressure area is expected to then rapidly weaken due to a cold airmass moving into the region.

These phenomena are expected to have effects on Thailand’s weather on October 14 and 15. Rainfall will increase in the Northeastern, Eastern, and Central Regions including Bangkok and its vicinity. Heavy rains are expected in Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Kalasin, Mukdahan, Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Buriram, Surin, Sisaket and Ubon Ratchathani.

Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha is urging people in these provinces to exercise caution against heavy rain and accumulated rainwater. The latter could trigger flash floods and forest runoffs. People are advised to follow announcements from the Meteorological Department. Information can be obtained from the weather bureau’s website at www.tmd.go.th or the 24-hour weather forecast hotline 1182.

Inetresting to see a much less dramatic forecast an hour later in the forum:

And that is what major weather services predicts. Little to no rain.

Current radar shows low intensity rains in southern Isaan.
