Certain Sattahip officials allegedly involved in the Mountain B pub fire that killed dozens of people are being accused of dereliction of duty by a famous Thai lawyer and the mourning families of the victims.

Activist lawyer Ronnarong Kaewphet and Sub Lieutenant Phuree Neeno, father of a deceased victim, along with 31 family members of the Mountain B pub inferno victims, filed a petition to Maj. Gen. Jaroonkiat Pankaew at the Reporting Center of the Central Investigation Bureau in Bangkok today, October 18th.

The lawyer asked the authority to press charges against Sattahip officials for dereliction of duty for allegedly allowing the Mountain B’s owner to run his pub without a license, resulting in 25 fatalities and several injured people.

Good… it is only when officials are held accountable for their failure to protect the populace in allowing continued corruption that things may improve…

You are assuming that it will not be the low hanging fruit that gets the blame, not the actual culprits that will carry on as normal

Most Thai lawyers I have come across have never lost a case before.  It's not surprising.  Most Thai lawyers work together to settle the matter at mediation.  The mediation room is the battleground, not the court of trial.

Don't be surprised if the victims are coaxed into accepting a lousy deal by their own lawyers.
