Ethanol content of 91 and 95 fuels?

Featured Replies

What is the Ethanol content of  91 and 95 which you buy at PTT ?

I bought a generator but you  cant put more than 10 percent Ethanol in it.

Is 95 or 91 OK?

Thanks

If it is used infrequently a better option is benzene 95 if you can get it.

Fuels with ethanol in them can cause corrosion problems in the fuel system particularly if left in there for a long time.  I mention it because generators are often used infrequently.

And about 3,5% higher energy content too, because E0 = no ethanol.

Hardly a device sold in Thailand that can not handle E10. Newer cars all up to E20, some flexfuel up to E85. Newer motorbikes can handle E20.

And as in your case smaller devices rely on E10 ("gasohol 95" at PTT).

Pure fuel ("benzene" as Thais call it) is more and more difficult to find. Only major stations of PTT and maybe Esso (?).

Not worth that hassle.

95: even if 91 octane still available stick to 95. The price difference has become marginal.

But in case of a generator that can sit for years between usage, it’s well worth the hassle of finding E0. Back home I deal with small engines that customers let sit for long time, and we have waaay more problems now with E10. A small carbed motor is doomed to not start when you really need it if just turned off without preparations say a year ago,

With equipment running on E10 I that can sit unused for up to a month I always drain the carburettor when unused.

With equipment running on E10 that sits unused for more than one month I drain the entire fuel system.

Anything two stroke I run it only on benzene 95.
