If you use wood you can get termite treatment for the wood. but a large area you cant see, a loft who knows what will happen under the boards. not trying to put you off, maybe others can advise on this . nigelforbes
I put 2 x 5 mm thick chipboard in my loft 8 years ago, untreated. I took up two pieces recently to get to some cables and there was no sign on infestation anywhere. Single story house in the middle of a one rai termite nest. Don’t bet that your termites have the same taste profile. Use Chanderite to be safe.
nigelforbes
Wood preservatives protect against bugs et al and is cheap enough, whatever wood you decide to use, perhaps treat the underside at a minimum.
