I thought they did everywhere.. Microwave clocks are like VCR clocks, a waste of space.

I make a humble suggestion.  As you are constructing a new kitchen, why not make a space for a standard sized built-in microwave, and just put a cupboard door on it.

 

Then later, you or another occupant can fit a microwave if they choose.

Its downstairs in the hallway but it still is noisy when opening and closing. New one is much better tho.
