Two day trip to udon thani

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hi all, looks like I may be in udon Thani for two nights back end of November, looked at plenty of hotels but didn’t fancy anything too near the bars ( I read the reviews of a few hotels and they mostly complained that the noise from the bars was an issue) I’m looking at the centara hotel as it’s near the shopping centre and not to close to the bars…but regarding the bars I did look at a few on line like the ‘brick house’ and the ‘Aussie bar’ interested in having a few beers and some western food and probably grab an English breakfast or two..so, any recommendations regarding bars and western food and any idea if you can get draught beers in the bars and what the prices are.

sorry if this has all been done to death before, looking forward to some recommendations.

many thanks for any help.

Western food is good at The Good corner opposite the Kavinburi hotel. I've just booked the new Banbua hotel which gets excellent reviews. Pannerai is also a good hotel.

It's really cool because there is so many hotels for every budget.

Beautiful girls everywhere, you'll strain your neck before your wife can.

Udon Thani is one of my favorites cities.

Great airport, flies virtually everywhere in Thailand.

I'm aware of flights to Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket.

Where else  can you fly to from Udon?

Can't find more currently.

Bangkok both airports.

The good thing is the number of flights daily.

Often stayed at the Old Inn, 5th or 6th floor suite with balcony to the road.

Nice big room (32 sqm) with a good view. Does not cost a fortune. Other rooms can be quite small and dark.

Noise from the bars?

Never felt as a problem.

Can sleep with open balcony door.

So far from the excessive noise in Pattaya.

So, not quite "virtually everywhere in Thailand", as some have said.

So, much the same as Khon Kaen and Buriram airports?

As written there are no other flights currently.

And Phuket with AirAsia is a nonstop. Not daily probably.

Khon Kaen

Khon Kaen airport rarely has flights to anywhere, unfortunately.  Runway is too short.

.... Who wants to go to Burriram?  Last time I was there I couldn't get away fast enough.

Udon Thani is a great City.  But that's my opinion.  I enjoy good food, nice hotels, and beautiful women.

The excellent airport was just a side note.  They even have a lounge for priority members.

AirAsia

Last time they cancelled the flight 2 days prior.

No refund but credit.

Mine too. But none of the last three flights was in time. One rescheduled three hours before planned departure. Heaven thanks I didn't need a connection.

Last flight back home was "only" 35 min late. Hope they get in trail again

KK flies to CM. KK is much better than Udon. Udon is one the worst in the whole country. Real slimey atmosphere, looks like a big drug problem there.

KK is cleaner, both airport and city. Ton Tann market is good. Udon night market is a dive with awful food.

Non stop from Phuket is 3 times a week I believe. About 1500 baht.

Same all over Thailand. 300 baht to 20,000 baht.

Your always staying in dumps.

300 baht is about your limit.  Wherever you stay you couldn't enjoy it.  Probably sheets covered in feces and squat toilets.

No I stay in 3 star hotels. Udon is a dump though.

Best thing about Udon, the airport out of there. Go somewhere decent instead.

You don't know squat.

All your reports of travel are places not even a dog would sleep.

Report back when you actually stay in a nice hotel.

Ugh!

Sounds like you couldn't get a gal for 200 baht more like it.
