Beer Sales Banned Around Qatar World Cup Stadiums: With the World Cup just two days away, Qatar has banned the sale of beer at the stadiums where the FIFA World Cup 2022 matches will be played from November 2022. Earlier, official sponsor Budweiser was allowed to sell beer at the Qatar World Cup official venues. But now after rounds of talks between Qatar and FIFA officials, it has been decided that the sale of beer will be completely stopped within the stadiums, as per news reports.

Always on the cards , it was never going to be announced before all the tickets were sold.

I see there are viewing parks set up , so fans can watch games who haven't got tickets .

Beer on sale , approx £12 a pint . Luverly.

Beer is only on sale at such venues after 7pm. 

Not that I drink anymore, but yet another reason to ignore this World Cup.

Without the assistance of beer, football fans are going to discover just how boring the sport really is.

Surprised anyone wants to go to this event.  

And at half time they could have some public beheading of gays and flogging of disobedient women for entertainment.

The World Cup that keeps on giving. First, they threaten to break the camera of a Dutch tv crew. Now a reversal of allowing alcohol sales at the venue (but free if you're very rich and can afford a hospitality deal). Next, suspend play during prayer time?

The whole tournament, from the selection of the host to the building of the stadiums and now the changing regulations has been a tawdry farce, perfect in character for the times we live in.

Totally agree. You have the World Cup in a muslim country what did they (FIFA) expect?

I'd be upset but most of the games I'm interested in watching are after beer selling times in Thailand too.

What has drinking got to do with enjoying at-the-ground games, of any kind?!

The history of readily available, mass drinking at football, especially by Europeans is not a good one, not good at all. 

I'd go further and say that anyone suspected of being drunk upon entry to a ground be breathe tested, and if over a reasonable limit be refused entry.

I for one wouldn't want to be around semi-inebriated, or drunk people at a WCup sports events. There are families children and women at these things so drunken men making scenes and frightening people (predominantly the problem historically) is not on.

As for free booze in hi-so viewing boxes these folks are contained in small groups and separated from the mass of folks attending. I would say, from personal experience of such spaces even if people get a bit p!ssy they don't brawl, throw drink containers at players and officials, or become offensive to others (and if they do they are removed from the box asap).

The farce started when they planned this as usual for July.

Only after making the deal Blatter and his mafia gang had to admit that it is frigging hot in Qatar (ignoring all warnings).

That happens if you are carted around in AC cooled limos.

former FIFA boss Blatter as well as his successor Infantino come from the same south alpine Swiss canton of Valais which has a bit of a reputation like Sicily ????

I'm prone (often!) and get over nostalgic when I drink booze. Even without it, is this England team better than the 1966 Cup winning one?

Budweiser is not the most flavorful beer even with alcohol, can you imagine what is tastes like withe zero alcohol?

And go back 10 years more to 1956! I don't need booze to work out that this England squad would beat Southgate's:
