onward ticket

Featured Replies

I am arriving in Thailand in December on a visa exempt.

I plan to apply for a non o visa as soon as poss then apply for retirement visa.

I have booked a one way ticket so what I am wondering is do I need to buy a throwaway ticket to say laos or cambodia to keep I.O happy and if so whats the cheapest way for said ticket. Also is it best to get the throwaway near the end of the 45 days.

The IO won't ask for an onward ticket.  You may be required to show proof of onward ticket to the airline at check-in in order to have a boarding pass issued.  Depends on airline and departure airport.

You could:

Buy a real ticket, throwaway or fully-refundable.

Buy a $15 rental ticket.

Show up at the airport, hope for the best.

The initial airline is your enemy. Good luck on a one way without non immigrant visa. Thai Airways best bet.

If you do decide to buy a ticket make it for within 30 days, just in case the airline is not up to speed with the current 45 day entry period.
