The system is designed to ensure the defendant gets as much time as needed to defend himself. The defense gets unlimited continuances for any and everything, but if the prosecution needs a continuance it must be because of an act of god occurred.  I had a case dismissed because I was in Trial in another courtroom and the defense would not waive time as they knew I was tied up, and would not assist in granting the continuance.  Because of that the judge dismissed the case and the DA decided not to refile it....sad state of affairs when that happens.

It appears Trump has figured out an ingenious way to get out of his criminal predicaments....

There are some posters who routinely complain about how long investigations take.  They should be thrilled if this delaying tactic is ended.
