webfact Posted December 4, 2022 Posted December 4, 2022 By Adam Judd Bangkok, Thailand-The Thai Tourism Minister, Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, who is also in charge of sports, stated today to the Thai media that the Thai Cabinet will discuss a proposal to extend legal nightlife closing in tourism areas on December 6th, Tuesday. The Minister did not say why the proposal was not addressed last week as he originally told the media the matter would be. The matter has been in flux for many weeks now even as some areas like Pattaya hard enforces nightly raids in tourism zones at 2 AM, leading to many complaints from tourists on social media. Phiphat even called the proposal a New Year’s gift to Thais and tourists. If approved, which is by no means guaranteed as many anti-alcohol organizations have opposed the measure. alex8912 Posted December 4, 2022 Posted December 4, 2022 The 2 am closings in Bangkok Sat night left thousands with $$ in hand and nothing to spend it on except for noodles. I'm sure Pattaya was the same. It seems the strictest ever in BKK. I was here even in March and April and it wasn't so early. What's the big deal about closing at 4 at least on weekends when tourism is up and Thais want to go out as well? It was 5 am for many years in the past. For the " what can possibly go wrong " brigade. All you people are tucked in or under your beds then so why comment!

ikke1959 Posted December 4, 2022 Posted December 4, 2022 I think if they want to approve it the alcohol ban during daytime must be lifted too. In the night drinking and partydrugs, tiredness are more dangerous .. If people wanto to drink let them be in the nightcubs between 2 and 4 am??it.. but not ony at night. and how many tourists will be in the nightclubs between 2 and 4 am??? Ever did a survey about it?
RichardColeman Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 Maybe I'm just an idiot, but why not leave the nightclub closure at 2 am and just open 2 hours earlier ? Or do these people not get up until 6pm ? 1

Holiday makers tend to have better things to do during the day than go out drinking; sightseeing, chilling at the beach, hiking, shopping malls. You know... Usual tourist stuff. Working expats of corse have to, you know, work, during the day. Then home, shower and dinner before going out. 1 1 1
mikebell Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 It won't happen; the police will never allow it. It's bonanza time for Plods all over Thailand. 'nightly raids in tourism zones at 2 AM,'
