I have never really understood why we are supposed to feel more compassion and pity toward famous people. Millions suffer from far worse maladies. Perhaps I have cold heart syndrome.

  • She has looked ill and gaunt for a long time surprised she is still alive.

You must only listen to classical music and reminisce about watching the every Sunday Lawrence Welk show, if you have no idea who this woman is.

Medusa after she sees herself in a mirror is what this disease brings to my mind.

Now I understand the reason for the pitiful screams & wails that emanate from her...

ok - I admit - she did an ok job of the Titanic theme

Perhaps you have never read John Donne.

I doubt I would have been too chuffed, getting that news at 54 years old.

That's why she warbles on about her "heart will go on".

I feel grief for some famous people when they pass. Like when Michael Jackson died. I didn't like him nor did I dislike him, and yet I was saddened by the news when he died. I didn't know why at first until I realised that he had nearly always been in the background of my life. Since he started in the Jackson Five and until his death he was often heard on the radio or heard and seen on tv, talked about in papers and magazines or amongst friends, on the news etc. In fact, I'd probably had seen more of MJ in the media than I had of some of my own relatives in real life.

So maybe it's just the amount of exposure that some celebrities have on ones own life that determines how much in the way of feelings one has when they are reported sick or pass on.

Who is Lawrence Welk?

I really don't but I've never taken any interest in 'celebrities'. I can appreciate a good actors or singers performance but don't remember their names.

Hearing them on the TV is quite enough for me.

This is what I call a singer, Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli move over.

Your hearing aid obviously can't register below a treble.
