"Anybody know if plans for superchargers up and down the country?"

Yes, plans already been reported.

"Tesla will also be opening its first supercharger by Q1 of 2023"

https://www.prestigeonline.com/th/pursuits/motors/tesla-has-officially-launched-in-thailand/

Nice addition to all the under used Charging Stations now.  Hopefully Tesla will encourage more to shop for EVs.  1.6 mill may be a stretch for some, but luckily a few priced less than 1 million baht already.  With more available next year.

Maybe in a few years, there will actually be enough EVs on the road to actually start using all the empty Charging Stations available now.  Not that I'm in a hurry to have that happen.

We did a few short trip and used about 7 CSs already, and yet to see another vehicle at them.  Quite the pleasant experience and by the time we're done stretching our legs, lite munch and a look around, the car is topped up.

Not much difference time wise when out & about with the ICEs before having the EV.  The short breaks are nice when on the road.

How long would the charging take?

Not sure about looking around at a CS .?

I think the Phev might suit us more in a few years as we do far to many trips where we just need to get to our destination quickly.

You prefer a Camry to a Tesla???

I'm guessing you've never driven a Tesla.  They make gas cars look like a Nokia flip.

I'm guessing that you've not seen the most recent Camry as you're referring to looks.    They are good-looking cars, Teslas aren't anything special aside from the potential performance that most people will never use, or need.

Will the chargers be maintained or just left for weeks if they develop a fault? Maintenance is not something they are really good at after all.

US tesla reliability is poor. Hopefully Chinese made ones are better. Toyota destroys tesla for reliability.

Toyota ... having a problem simply keeping the wheels on their EVs.

Not any more.   2,700 cars quickly recalled and the problem remedied after only 264 went to customers.  Toyota provided replacement vehicles while they were being sorted, offered $5,000 compensation and offered to buy the affected cars back.

Teslas have had all kinds of quality issues.

When it gets to posters putting other posters on ignore because they are stating unpalatable facts about EV's, it becomes fanaticism.

Damn right it's sad.

Quite right, the ultimate "sad" is announcing to the forum that one person has been put on an ignore list, an action that has no effect whatsoever on the "ignored"!

Don't see many petrol pumps left for weeks unmaintained here so why should that apply to charging stations?

Really?  What do you base that on...any relevant examples?

Maybe because there's a slight difference in maintenance/operation or rather reliability of the electrical  charging stations?

I don't know...

Check out the recent real world experience of the Rivian driver in the U.S.

Starting at 14:00

Governments provide Tesla's charging stations?   Really?  Serious question.

That's an important question.

Will Tesla build an extensive and reliable network of charging stations, they same way they have done it in the U.S.?

I'd say, not a chance.

"I'd say, not a chance".

Why would you say that of a company that wants to sell it's electric vehicles here?    The government doesn't generally equip a country with its EV charging stations for private manufacturers!

There is?  What the reliability difference that you're aware of?  Oh, sorry, you "don't know", so why post it in the first place?

I did post a link to the video of the guy's experience describing his charging stations reliability symptoms, which he encountered aplenty on his single trip.

I'm not an electrical engineer to know the reasons.

btw, I did that as a response to another poster saying that there's no any reason to believe that there' will be any problems with them.

Apparently there are many.

Because the U.S. is Tesla's home turf, where it was enjoying years of governments subsidies, tax credits and billions of dollars in investment to create a nation-wide charging network.

Thailand is an absolutely different, rapidly moving market, with already a multitude of players getting involved in all kinds of partnerships including with Government controlled companies in order to build charging station networks.

Why would Tesla invest in its sole charging network?

Do you really think that it's competitive or even innovative enough (by now) to command a bigger slice of the Thai market?

Have they made any announcements?

Other companies have.

At least one of them is a partnership that is positioned to spread nationwide.

https://www.tesla.com/th_th/host-a-supercharger

To apply for an opportunity to host a supercharger?

"Tesla manages the construction, operation and maintenance of Superchargers at your site.

Fast, efficient and completed by a team of Tesla installers, the installation process is designed to get your Superchargers up and charging quickly."

Where exactly does it say that all those goodies come free of charge? ????

It doesn't say a word about Tesla spending a dime, or  sharing the expense.

The way I read it, it's structured as a program designed for companies/buisnesses/shops to apply for the privilege of purchasing the right to host a Tesla charger.

Associated costs undisclosed.

They are mostly private in the US. And I don't see that happening here. These guys are not serious enough.

However, the Biden administration has allocated billions of dollars across the 50 states and Puerto Rico to help develop the infrastructure to fuel electric vehicles.

Sure in the day Nokia was great.  But that day is gone.  Nokia tech is yesterday.  BEV are doing to ICE what Apple did to Nokia.

I've driven a 2021 Model S Plaid.  0-60 in 2 seconds.  Unreal.

How much is a set of new batteries going to cost, and how long will the batteries last?

I would suspect that a Tesla will devalue far more, and far quicker than a Toyota Camry over the same period.

Where did you manage to drive the Tesla that quickly?

The batteries last a very long time.  Generally 300,000-500,000km.  Today about $20K to replace full battery.

Not the case.  You can see resale values on Carvana and other places for Tesla are far higher than for ICE cars.

Sorry, slight miscommunication there.  2 sentances not one.

I have driven my buddy's MS Plaid but not with special tires and the rolling start required to hit the 1.9 second mark.

I did have the car stopped on a 4 lane divided road with 2 miles in front of me with no cars in sight.

Depressed the brake, followed by depressing the accelerator.  Then released the brake and off like a rocket.  No idea what the actual 0-60 time was.  Maybe 2.1 seconds?  Maybe 2.3???

Regardless, at the time - 8 months ago - it was the fastest car in the world 0-60.  Since been surpassed by a couple of other BEVs.

The G's were so strong, I felt a wave of nausea.

These cars are fricken unreal.  I drove a 2018 model 3 also.  Didn't compare to the Plaid but way faster than any other car I have driven in my life.  Handling is incredible too.

Model 3 slimilar price to a Camry, they'll sell boatloads in Thailand.

I meant to say which country did you test drive it in?

Nothing against the Camry.  I had one for 7 years.  They look good, are comfortable, reliable.

I'm just saying there will be a lot of buyers for Model 3 at that price.

Saying Teslas arent anything special is dumb.  Depends on the buyer's desires.  I've driven a 2018 Model 3 and a 2021 Model S Plaid.  Even the M3 was special.  The instant acceleration from zero to 60kph is something you would use constantly. The handling compared to a Camry is incomparable, the infotainment experience, Spotify, presetting temperature so you get into a cool or warm car as you like....the tech is way ahead of the Camry.

36. Tesla Model 3
39. Tesla Model Y"

I'm confused.

You wrote: "Chinese cars are still poor quality today."

I asked you: "How do you know that?"

And that's your answer above - there appears to be more complaints for Tesla compared to the Chinese make, BYD.

Sorry if I'm missing something.
