webfact
Naew Na Thai Caption: Pick-up driver nodded off Thai media Naew Na and Siam Rath published dramatic pictures of the latest accidents in Thailand yesterday. On Pahonyothin Road southbound in Kamphaengphet, northern Thailand, a pick-up carrying tangerines plowed into a duck noodle restaurant at 5.30 am. Picture: Naew Na The driver aged 24 had fallen asleep behind the wheel, something Thais call a microsleep or "lap nai". The noodle stand was part of a famous chain run by "Sia Chai". Meanwhile Siam Rath had a story about a driver of a six wheel truck who got trapped in his cab after going into the back of an 18 wheel truck trailer that had slowed to allow a motorcycle to pass. Picture: Siam Rath This happened in the Phan Thong police jurisdiction on the Sukprayoon road leading in to Chonburi, in central/eastern Thailand. Nobody was killed in the incidents. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-12-15 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. About time this sort of thing invalidated insurance for all drivers and the companies employing them - except for victim claims. Meaning the victims get a payout but the driver and company pays for their own repairs and a 100% increase in next years insurance

Nicholas Paul KNIGHT
You can change the laws to improve Road Safety and drivers obedience, BUT you cannot tell stupid people how to drive as here, they think they know it all !!
phetphet
Give it another two weeks, and this accident will be eclipsed by the number of deaths over Christmas and the New Year. Same same. Nothing changes. 1

Of the many Thai's that i know that drive, "not one" of them admits to having any insurance, and some, no road tax, means no compusory insurance too ... when i ask them what you will do if u cause an accident, they agreed on a popular answer that was Plead....... " no have money ......" to the victim, and to the courts
zoltannyc
A little nitpicking: the above events are not accidents but incidents. While accidents are always unintended, unexpected, or unplanned events with negative consequences, it is assumed that no one is at fault. The event was completely unforeseeable and unpreventable. In a similar context, an incident is always unwanted and unplanned and has negative consequences; however, it happens due to carelessness, bad judgment, and not following rules and regulations, and in fact, these incidents are foreseeable and preventable.
