Daily News Thai Caption: Why was he told to get off?

Daily News reacted to a video clip in which there was anger on a bus north of the Thai capital Bangkok in which a passenger was not wearing a mask.

It concerned what happened on Route #6250 from Rangsit to Klong 9.

Passengers complained to the conductress that a man was not wearing a mask.

She asked him to put it on and he refused and words were exchanged and a post was made.

Reporters found the inspector responsible for the route at the Kitti Sunthorn company in Pathum Thani.

Amporn Wongnam, 60, said that all the other passengers were wearing masks.

It was an air con service, crowded and with no air flow.

In addition the passenger appeared to be drunk.

Staff have been told to ask all passengers to wear a mask.

Spares are available if people don't have one or theirs breaks, added an employee.

might as well report on Mao and Stalin and Hitler and Pol Pot every day for the rest of our lives, since many deaths remain nameless.

or what if they report a GOOD thing.....clearly there is another good thing they could report, or even report all day, every day on creating the wheel.   clearly a better story than a kid saving some rabbits.

or every single story on the drug trade.....that would certainly get everyone excited!!!!

I saw a drunk falang last night riding a bike without a helmet, screaming profanities and throwing something in the road ..... why not a story on him????    this is the biggest problem of our generation. lol

Because you don't wear a mask you won't get infected. Is that what you believe?

This is not correct, there is no law regarding mask wearing. That was a single statement by a health official that was widely reported in multiple articles.

There is no law/mandate for public transport. If there was, the airlines would be enforcing it, as they were when there was a law in place. They are not.

Apologies. My comment was not meant to be violent.

My bad????????

That's was a national edicte and pertains on to the  govt position. Private establishment can dictate their own rules. Public transport has also been recommending the wearing of mask while on board and have the right to refuse service as deemed appropeiate

continuing story of craziness... as the whole world is mask free, Thailand keep the masks on.. In China they only showed football and no audience as the audience were not wearing masks. As soon as there were supporters to be seen, they switched to the trainers... There is no law in Thailand that you have to wear a mask...

Private entities can make their own rules and refuse service as they deem fit, the govt statement was for govt facilities and has no bearing on private facilities

Except at private facilities that make their own requirements for enter.

In Thailand everybody can make his own law.. That is why nobody knows what to do or to behave...

Just like when the late king passed away. No Thai wanted to be the first to stop wearing black.

Now, no Thai wants to be the first to stop wearing masks.

It's a private company, they can make their own rules, anyone who doesn't want to "obey" them doesn't have to use the service.  I reckon most people would rather not travel with a drunk passenger, mask or no mask.

An unattributed misleading troll post has been removed.

I've been in Bangkok Rama 2 for the last few days - I would say 99% of people wear masks at all times in public. I was astonished.

I'll wear one on the bus/markets/central etc but they wear them everywhere outside.

I've been to the local markets, night market, central, pool  - all 99%.

Same old situation a mask, but no helmet when riding their MCs.

"...anutin......had said months ago that there WAS NO LAW".

There isn't, except in certain places, but the bus operation is a private company, they can impose whatever rules they want for people using their buses.

Blackshadow didn't say anything of the sort.

Astonished is a good description. It's flabbergasting this is still occurring.

It's almost becoming a Bangkok and Chiang Mai thing, in many other provinces it has dropped off.

Don't even start on the rest of the world, where it is now becoming more and more uncommon by the day. I wouldn't be surprised if China goes maskless before Thailand. What will it take to get the land of smiles back?

Even Japan is starting to relax a little, not that the almost universal mask wearing seemed to do much there - reporting 1 million cases last week!!
