Without an Agent, they never keep your passport.

To The Best of My Knowledge, even with an agent, it would be the agent that has your passport. If you have the funds in a Thai bank why use an agent ? What Province are you applying in ?

No.

Last year I had to go back the next day.

I am not sure but I thought that I read about a recent case where it was even longer.

You should get your passport back withing a few minutes.

Pattaya Immigration might have it's own rules though.

Pattaya does   (or at least did in June).

You are given a numbered card and told to return after 2pm the next day.

OP, you are asking a 2 part question.

When you apply for a non O based on retirement you will be given and under consideration period and pp handed straight back.

You then return on stated date to receive non O retirement stamp..

Subsequently you apply for extension.

At Jomtien the have you return the next day to collect your pp.

Bit backward down there.

Certainly they will require something to indicate your address when you apply for the non O.

A TM30 should be sufficient.

Fo some obtaining a non O retirement inside Thailand may not at that stage have a rental contract etc.

For your first extension you at that point would still not have made a 90 day report so again just have the TM30 for your current address.
