OPINION: When will Republican voters wake up to their own oppression?

The Republicans plan to use the debt ceiling as a hostage to force Dems to accept cuts to social security. They claim they are being fiscally responsible but voted three times to raise the debt ceiling and added $7.8 trillion to the national debt under Trump.

The dems will only vote for a clean bill to raise the debt ceiling without spending cuts for medicare and social security. The Republicans will try to blame them for failing to raise the debt ceiling.

Conservative rebels in the House are demanding that the next Speaker, whether it’s Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) or someone else, make a stand against passing a clean debt limit increase, which would set up a major fight with Senate Democrats and President Biden

The are extremely radical and they will be causing major problems but the American voters won't be so stupid as the blame the democrats when the republicans force shutting down the government in 2024.

We've seen this game before.

Quite a change from your previous stance:

You really think it's likely that they're going to uncover massive amounts of criminality when a seasoned federal prosecutor given carte blanche came up with only one minor criminal conviction and a grand total of 3 cases?

Again, We will just have to wait and see.

Except they use the term "your fair share" Only the terms have been changed.  The philosophy is the same.

Actually I agree with "from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs" as long as the "from each" part is actually done. Problem now in western society IMO is that too many give nothing but still expect to get ( and do get ).

You are as Reagan described when he said.  It isn't that our liberal friends is not that they are ignorant.  They just know so much that isn't true"

The top 10% of all income earners paid MORE THAN THE BOTTON 90%.

These very old figures hide the real problem. The rich pay a far lower burden of tax than the rest. For even more shocking figures, read down the article to see what corporations pay.

These are 2020 figures  DUH

Also CORPORATIONS DONT' PAY ANY TAX.

A tax on a business is no different than rent, utilities, insurance, wages, advertising etc.  IT GETS BAKED INTO THE PRICE OF THE GOODS AND SERVICES that business provides.

Maakro here pays VAT to the government.  You didn't.  But wait, that VAT is added to your bill.

When you fill up with gasoline, you didn't pay the fuel tax to Thailand the service station did.  So did the business pay or did you.

The fact is the top 5% pay more than the bottom 90%  With a standard deduction now $25,900 anyone earning less than that PAYS NOTHING.
