Pattaya Tourist Police said they are ready to take care of an influx of Chinese tourists, especially in terms of safety.

Pol. Lt. Col. Pichaya Kheawpluang, chief of the Tourist Police Station 4, told The Pattaya News that a large number of Chinese tourists will visit Pattaya after China lifted its travel restrictions on January 8th.

He said this might result in a rise in crimes in the area, but the Tourist Police have taken several measures to protect the life and property of every tourist. For example, one of the measures is an application called “Police I Lert U,” which he urged every tourist to download to report any emergency to the Tourist Police.

Yes, good idea.  While being attacked or robbed they will definitely be on their phones texting the Police telling them it's an emergency.

I’m so tired of seeing them put the Chinese on a pedestal as if they are the best and most important tourists. They are pushy, trash most places they visit, spit everywhere and spend very little in the local markets. I hope that the basket the government is making to put all their eggs in again fails again. Treat all your visitors the same. It’s past pathetic.

And who’s going to take care of the rest of us ?

I hadn’t noticed the chinese with big gold necklaces, beware the ladyboys ! ????

Safe from: gambling dens, phone scams, cutting the queue?

That worked so well for the Indian tourists, didn't it?

As usual discrimination and racism on display in Thailand where they 'smile'as they rip you off..! not bad enough to openly display two cost's when you travel through a National Park or Themed attraction. WAKE UP THAILAND,your going backwards.

What happens when they steal your phone, no help untill brought new one and download app

  • Popular Post

They do it themselves, mostly moving in large noisy groups spitting in all directions. Usually gets me out of their way.

what about crime by chinese tourists

  • Popular Post

How about taking a vow to deter the thousands of chinese criminals committing crimes against Thai citizens.

Oh, but of course they are paid to ignore such activity...

Such a law enforcement shambles.

  • Popular Post

You have to be kidding me .Recently there have been more criminal activity from Chinese  organized crime with illegal call centers, gambling dens ,  money laundering and massive drug smuggling involvement .I think we need protection from the Chinese

'Police I lert U' or whatever, allow bib to track your location.

"Hey guys, look, this farang buy ganja at that store in soi Buakhao"

(Legal today, U-turn tomorrow, not legal anymore, and bib know previous buyers)

"This farang is in soi 6"

And so on ....

Goodbye Privacy.

I don't visit any of the examples, but I value my privacy.

I wonder how they will get the Chinese tourists to go through their roadside checks to 'protect' them?

There certainly won't be more police actually on the streets preventing crime. That might actually make sense.

Puzzled by how Chinese tourists will help the economy. They are generally shy in my experience and don't drink much because they get drunk very fast. What does Pattaya have that Chinese families want? Are they famous for spending in Thai shops?

For Chinese tourists, they are urged not to take any BOAT trips; avoid eating too much sea food; do not use pedestrian crossings; do not stroke any of the million wild dogs slowly dying amid the traffic; form an orderly queue in 7-11s.
