There is no suggestion from the government that the B300 is for "health or accident cover" for tourists. It is obviously intended to offset some of the governments cost of those who do not pay, it is not an insurance policy.

Nonsense. The B300 is not charged according to skin colour, neither are the Parks' entrance fees. 1

Other countries seem to get round it.... accept USD, have a few exchange places air-side. Indonesia wants about $35 from most tourists now for VOA. When it comes to collecting money, I have faith in the Thais!
sandyf Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 16 hours ago, richard_smith237 said: That was an airport Tax.... initially 500 Baht for international departures and 30 Baht for domestic. They simply add that to the ticket these days, I believe it is now 800 baht. There are 3 different charges applied. THB70.00-E7(Thailand Advance Passenger Processing Charge) THB30.00-G8(Thailand International Arrival/Departure Fee) THB700.00-TS(Thailand Passenger Service Charge) If Thailand introduces the 300THB on tickets it will become a bit like the UK that has Air Passender Duty over an above the Passenger Service Charge. APD varies between about £80 and £130 depending on class of seat. If proposals go ahead, Thais may well have to pay PSC, APD and Tourist Tax to visit Scotland. Thailand could of course take the simple option, follow most other countries and just add the tourist tax to hotel bills. Just think of it, no extensions unless you have paid your tourist tax. People should be careful what they wish for. 1

Chances are the Thais would rather that grotte old codgers say at home instead of potentially clogging up their medical institutions hahah.
