Don’t Rush To Open A Legal Casino In Thailand: Academic

A PROMINENT academic warned that there are both pros and cons to the proposal to open a legal casino in the country but this project should not be rushed and only implemented after effective law enforcement and reforms are in place, Naewna newspaper said.

A SHOOTOUT at a night restaurant in Songkhla between two groups of customers with being policemen and their friends left one dead and two injured, Thai Rath newspaper said today (Jan. 15).

Thais warned against becoming foreigners’ nominees in businesses reserved for Thai nationals

Thai people who allow their names to be used by foreigners as nominees to open businesses reserved for Thai nationals may face prison terms of three years and/or a fine of between 100,000 baht and a million baht, said Thosapone Dansuputra, director-general of Business Development Department, today.

Bangkok cabbies must get meters officially adjusted to new fares

Taxi drivers must get their meters adjusted before they will be allowed to charge the new fares, an increase of 6% on the old rate, according to the Land Transport Department.

Man arrested with 200,000 meth pills hidden in electric ovens

Thai anti-narcotic officials have seized 200,000 methamphetamine tablets, hidden in two electric ovens which were found in parcels at a delivery service company in Nonthaburi on Friday, and have arrested the sender.
