No Suspected Sex Workers Found During Pattaya Tourist Police’s Inspection, According to Police

Pattaya — Pattaya Tourist Police were satisfied after finding no illegal prostitutes during yesterday’s tour around risky spots.

The inspection, which aimed to stifle illegal prostitution and came after complaints from concerned citizens claiming prostitutes were operating in Pattaya, took place at midnight on January 14th and was led by Pol. Lt. Col. Pichaya Kheawpluang.

 

The police patrolled around risky spots such as Beach Road and Walking Street to look for suspects and put flyers on venues’ front gates to warn tourists to “Be aware of their belongings and don’t trust strangers.”

 

Tourist Police identified risky places in Pattaya as crowded tourist attractions, dark and/or deserted places as well as Pattaya Beach.

I think in theory they are probably right.

I guess to be sure prostitution is going on they must have seen two or more people having sex with each other and exchanging money.

I think in my 20 years in Thailand I also never saw this happening in the streets.

I also never saw a sign like: pay amount x for sex 

There were girls who told me: I want to go with you.

Even some who told me: I want to <deleted> you.

But hey, that what happens to handsome men.

Years ago I used to occasionally bump into a BiB in social settings. This guy was an upper muckety muck in Pattaya, a big fish in a little pond. He was also pro-Thaksin. When Thaksin was ousted, this BiB was reassigned to a neutered post with NO more brown envelopes coming his way. He quickly went bankrupt - lost his apartments, his cars, and his wife left him. Those brown envelopes aren't just a myth or a nice little side income.

You couldn't make this up . Don't they realize making stupid statement like that do not instill confidence in the police rather the opposite.What chance would they have of apprehending a criminal or other lawbreaker if they can't spot a sex worker on beach road or walking street

When I first got to Thailand, I didn't have a smartphone and kick myself forever for that. I saw a working girl in the classic schoolgirl outfit walking down Pattaya 2nd Road with a mattress strapped to her back!

I showed this report to my wife and she said I can go to Pattaya and stay for two weeks, and more if I want, before this I could not even go for one hour, thank you so much tourist police,PLEASE do the same next year and if you ever have any doubts let me know and I will send brand new sets of cloudy spectacles.
