Thai media reported that Ban Khai police and rescue services in Rayong on Thailand's eastern seaboard responded after a Mitsubishi pick-up slammed into the back of a truck carrying steel.

It happened at 9.45 pm last night on the Ban Khai to Nong Lalork Road.

Dead inside the severely damaged pick-up was 39 year old Nanthachot who was on his way home after selling soy milk at the Ban Khai market, reported Thai Rath.

Thawatchai, the trucker, said he had just come out of his company's soi with a 33 ton load of steel bound for Lat Krabang.

He said that the pick-up came from nowhere and hit him after he went just 20 meters down the main road.

The devastating nature of the accident showed that the pick-up driver was going very fast, noted the media.

People who are going very fast need eyes. Looks like that was missing here.

Or idiots pulling out in front of you.

Reckless behavior, you takes your chances. Good he didn't have someone else with him. One less idiot on the roads.

Most trucks here do not have side reflectors and when coming out of  side turning on a badly lit road are hard to see until the last minute.. Yes, maybe the pickup was speeding but....

At night time when turning a semi into the road from a stop with a load on isn't a fast action and sometimes at night you may see head lights down the road but you can't tell how fast they are coming. Add to the equation that to many people drive with there eyes on the smartphone and this is one of the biggest reasons for accidents like this, distracted driving. I've driven truck for 37 years and seen far to many similar accidents. I've also been to Thailand 5 times and the majority of drivers I've witnessed drive faster than the speed limit. Look up and live.
