Crossy Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 And as with all new disruptive technologies, there will be winners and losers as the old tech is shuttered while the new technology proliferates. The oil and gas industry already knows that electric vehicles are poised to replace the internal combustion engine vehicles that it caters to, and the demand for its products will radically decrease in the coming years. But that doesn't mean they aren't going down without a fight. Read more: - https://insideevs.com/features/631229/wyoming-ban-electric-vehicle-sales/ 1 1 "I don't want to know why you can't. Encid Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 Also from the article... "Wyoming cares because it is an oil and gas state. Even though Wyoming is the least populated state in the nation with only a little more than half a million residents (0.17% of the US population), it is the eight-largest oil producer in the US."

gargamon Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 In 2035 there won't be many gas powered cars to choose from. By 2050 probably none. Wyoming will be looking a lot like Cuba with lots of old cars and no new ones. Are they banning hybrids too?

No actual mention either way, the bill text is here https://wyoleg.gov/Legislation/2023/SJ0004 I do note a number of inaccuracies in there. "I don't want to know why you can't. ozimoron Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 This type of legislation is just red meat for the base. It will be buried 5 minutes after the next election. 1
Elkski Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 Good play if your giungvto want lots of Federal money, pork, to help you build EV station network. Better power grid fed funded, and all those rich landowner speculators are going to develop WY.

Muhendis Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 So what would be the result if all transportation became electric. 66% of oil is refined into petrol and diesel. Something like 4% is made into plastics like the insulation of electric cables and solar panels. The rest is split between asphalt soap/detergents ect. and loads of other products. My guess is that if no more petrol and diesel were produced, the cost of plastics and the rest would see a substantial increase. This is an interesting read over a decent cold beer, or an indecent one for that matter. https://energyeducation.ca/encyclopedia/In_a_barrel_of_oil 2
