Just the fact that these guys will not face suspensions alone is enough to make everything very clear, to everyone. These guys are protected at the highest levels.

With advances in modern technology, especially the media, - such revelations can be published worldwide within seconds, whereas in the "bad/good old days" it could be nipped in the bud before too much damage was done, and the knowledge was kept within the country in question. 

In China  and North Korea for instance, much information is pinned down by Governments that are non democratic, and Prayut's outburst against Thaksin ("that man"!) shows that he is of the same ilk, and would love to have a situation where no one could broadcast information damaging to himself or the Government, so beware of "dirty tricks" to come - especially in regard to any forthcoming "democratic" election!

I'd use it and still maintain the usual "trust" one would have for the RTP or most any other Thai government agency. 

Stupid. Why offer this only to Chinese? Plenty of rich dudes with no compunction to be treated equally to some back packer. Job and income opportunities abound.

Not a week goes by without some poor farmer being bankrupted / destroyed because some crazy pit bull/ dog has attacked killed his child. Chinese being police escorted to their hotels, tourists being held in the dark in frightening situation , immigration officers taking bribes from  Chinese criminals , drugs added to that , photos of small kids with a bong near the beach in broad daylight ( and please do not put all that down to bad tourists !!)  . It’s a breakdown of Thai society , it’s falling apart.

Damaged how?  I bet many would gladly pay for that service.

I've got the impression that corruption, while always endemic in Thailand, has been spiraling completely out of control under the current government - and since the pandemic started in particular.

 

Whenever they close a door by means of yet another crackdown, another door quickly opens. Those corrupt officials are way too crafty and greedy to forego any money that is up for grabs 

 

I think it's safe to say that nothing will change, at least not with the current government still in place (but probably beyond).

It's always gone on its just now the spotlight is being pointed from outside onto Thailand so the mafia of green blue and brown  etc can't be hidden by the definition laws...

It was a total ruse. There was zero effort to root out corruption. Nothing bordering on sincere. Guys like the biggest joke are PR machines, meant to deceive the most naive. They never went after anyone significant. If anything, this administration has deepened the rot and filth. 

The only thing that is annoying Prayuth is that this has become public. He'll skrike on for a while, make a few statements. This may heat up a bit, some officers will be moved to a different role/area - some might even enter a prison by the front door if public anger swells but they will no doubt leave shortly afterwards by the back door. Those offering these VIP services will be told to cool it for a while and then it will be business as usual.

 

Love the country (itself), love the people (ordinary folk) but hate the current regime - although previous ones weren't much better.

 

Sorry to repeat a statement I've made in other topics but what do we expect from a country who's police chiefs publicly state that they couldn't find any sex for sale in Pattaya?  Not that I have anything against the availiblity of such services but what sort of a person can make such statements publicly?  Only one that doesn't care what rubbish they spout and has no cares about insulting the intelligence of the people.  Why would they care? they are the big pigs that eat at the big trough.

 

Corruption is a major factor and stifles development but its endemic in Thai society at all levels .  Given the way the hierarchy of the country is arranged, I can't see anything changing anytime soon.  Prayuth wants those responsible to be punished? Wants? Isn't he supposed to be running the country - why not order their punishment?
