Cap: Sent (bikes) to sell in his homeland

Daily News followed up on a story featured on ASEAN NOW yesterday in which a married couple were arrested for stealing motorcycles for years in the Thai capital Bangkok.

The Thonglor police had promised they would expand the inquiry and arrest the fence who was having the bikes taken to a "neighboring country".

That fence turned out to be a man called Wanchai, 26 from Laos.

He said that he came to Thailand to work many years ago and had gained Thai nationality.

Working with an agent in his homeland he received 80 stolen bikes and had them transported in an adapted van that would meet him behind a restaurant where he worked to pick up the stolen goods.

He was charged with fencing and detained.

With Thailand’s love of blaming the inanimate rather than a person for any mistakes made, i.e. brake failure made me crash, rain made me skid...  etc etc... I half expected to see the police ‘arresting a few posts and wire’ for causing theft !!!!... :giggle:

Any clues for the keystone cops as to which "neighbouring country" the stolen bikes were being taken too?

If that confuses you, no explanation would be able to help you.
