Chuwit Kamolwisit has made his most damning accusations yet about the sheer scale of RTP corruption.

Niwatchai stated that the Thai government has taken a more serious approach to deal with bribery by reforming its project approval system by scrapping bureaucratic red tape and reducing official discretion.

Keep in mind these kinds of index rankings are relative to all countries in the ranking.

For example, in 2021 Thailand's Democracy Index ranking improved more than any other country in the world! One can argue that when other Asian countries slip (ie,, Myanmar) in the idex score, Thailand's index will improve if it does nothing for improvement - just maintains the status quo.

Personally I find both the Corruption and Democracy indexes driven more by forward looking expectations than by fact-based statistics.

When I first saw the headline I assumed they were getting better at it.

They are, with less people getting caught and when they do they pretend and lie that it didn't happen, hence the many recent police stories.

Don’t worry it’ll be going down a few spots by the next review I’m sure. I don’t put much stock in these reports but if they don’t go down then we All know it’s a farce.
