February 14, 20233 yr Went to a language school in Phuket today and was told that my missus at 36 could have an ED visa but me at age 49 (50 in June) could not. They said it was new rules. That was a bit of a surprise.

An ed-visa you can get without having to grease palms. Pushing you to get a retirement visa is making an agent appear attractive.
February 14, 20233 yr Author The lady down the road from me uses an agent and has a one year visa. Might have a chat with her. The 'this is your last visa waiver" convo with the IO at Phuket a few days ago was odd. Posted about it on a separate thread.

If you can obtain another border bounce visa exempt entry prior to march 31 you could use an agent to obtain non O retirement and subsequent extension when you turn 50. Does not prevent you from studying Thai only prevents you from working. Edited February 14, 20233 yr by DrJack54

(For now) No more ed visas in Phuket for anyone under 50 and no ed visas for Chinese citizens regardless of their age. Immigration is doing this. I think it is due to the Tuhao situation which has become a big political football.
