webfact Posted February 23, 2023 Posted February 23, 2023 77kaoded Thai Caption: Almost no place to walk Thai media 77kaoded reported from the old city area in Bangkok with a news-cum-criticism story about Thai tourism. They acknowledged that Thailand and its capital had a lot to offer to tourists. Many wanted to visit despite some stories they'd heard about safety, theft and the language barrier. But Thais should listen to their complaints as well as their praise when they visit because that would help Thailand improve their experiences. Picture: 77kaoded They picked on two aspects of a trip to the Rattanakosin area famous for its old buildings and temples like Wat Pra Kaew, Wat Pho and over the Chao Phraya River at Wat Arun, the Temple of the Dawn. One was thieving tuk-tuk drivers. Picture: 77kaoded Many tourists want to ride in one but they are often taken for a ride - literally - in what amounts to extortion. Thais themselves prefer taxis of course. They like the air-conditioning and staying away from the 2.5PM pollution. So they don't really see the problem. AAAAA.mp4 Another problem in the area is that it is almost impossible to walk without tripping over something or having the sidewalk blocked. The caption on their main photo bemoaned the fact that there was almost no place to walk. Tuk-tuk rip offs and places to walk, they decided, were two areas that the authorities could focus on to make the tourism experience a better one. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2023-02-23 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Mickeymaus Posted February 23, 2023 Posted February 23, 2023 This is one of the big problems here in Thailand. Often there is not much law enforcement and / because the penalties are not severe enough. Understandable that the police thinks that they have better things to do. It is often the same with the nightlife venues.

Thais don't care what tourists think as tens of millions come each year anyway. Not sure how many would want to return, but that's irrelevant. Bottom line is that masses of people come. 4 2

Those have been nuisances forever, certainly since I first travelled to Thailand, 25 years ago. And I doubt either will ever change...
metisdead Posted February 23, 2023 Posted February 23, 2023 A post with off topic derogatory trolling comments toward Thai women and the replies have been removed.

I once made a submission to one of those travel sites (was it trip advisor? unsure), giving some warnings and tips regarding Thailand. Was sent an email saying they wouldn't publish because it was "too negative"... "to be forewarned is to be forearmed".... versus head in the sand...

TA is IMHO, the worst site for travel or any advise. I don't even bother using as a cross reference any more, for any input. I stick with Gmap & Thai sites, with lots of photos for 'customers/visitors'. Rarely disappointed. 1
