Legal Action Could Be Taken Against Polling Agency Over Pro-Prayut Event

DUTY-NEGLIGENCE AND POLITICAL partiality charges could possibly be lodged in court against the Election Commission for failure to investigate a questionable Ruam Thai Sang Chart event held last month, said Somchai Srisutthiyakorn, head of the Thai Liberal strategy steering campaigns.

 

Somchai said he will definitely take such legal action against all six commissioners of the polling agency if they ever fail to respond to January 9’s event in which the Ruam Thai Sang Chart had allegedly recruited thousands of villagers from the provinces to Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre to attend a pompous introduction of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha as member of the brand-new party and be given hats and T-shirts bearing the party’s logo for free.

 

According to Somchai, himself a former election commissioner, the transportation of the cheering crowds on tour buses and handout of those giveaway items as part of the Ruam Thai Sang Chart activity may be considered a violation of the law.

Just declare Prayut Chan-o-cha the winner and be done with it....No election needed..

Ban Prayuth for life from any participation in politics. The nation would be far better off without him, and he would finally get a break. He can't seem to take one on his own. It would appear he has become a power addict.

Ban any Thai military officer with rank of colonel and above for life or minimum 10 years after retirement from national office. Require same for cabinet position Minister of Defense and Chairman of the National Riyal Thai Police Commission. 

The military should serve the People, not the reverse.

Such an act would require blessings and proper writs from those anointed.......as anything of this form is carried out here.

Totally agree. However, it seems that the nation and the people exist to please and to enrich the military here. The polar opposite of the way it should be. Why the army is accorded such regard is beyond me. What on earth have they ever done for the nation, besides mounting coups every few years, in its unquenchable thirst for power, riches and undeserved glory?

 

New Mandala, an academic blog on Southeast Asian affairs, found that Thailand has had 13 successful and nine unsuccessful coups in just over a century. The most recent being in 2014.
