I spent four days in Da Nang last week and was surprised at how much cheaper everything is in Vietnam compared to Thailand. It was around one third of Thailand prices. Restaurants serve much larger portions of food and the people were genuinely more helpful and polite.

The traffic is also not a problem. We experienced no traffic jams at all. 

I forgot to mention that the beaches were very nice, the water was clear and there was no sign of litter or overhead cables !

I might agree about visiting but for longer term Thailand must be more convenient.

After six months away, and only three weeks in Thailand, I am already tired of this place.

 

Pondering alternatives to move to next year. Possibly, Vietnam or Philippines.

Also forgot to mention - fairly good to excellent air.

 

Hopefully they follow thru and reinstitute 90 Day Tourist Visas.
