Anutin hits the campaign trail - says he'll be there for all Bangkokians despite party not having an MP in capital

Siam Rath reported that Bhumjaithai party leader Anutin Charnvirakul was on the campaign trail yesterday in Bangkok's Bangkok Noi district.

 

In a river and temple hopping trip the high profile Thai politician and billionaire - who became a household name as health minister in the pandemic - listened to the problems of the capital's residents and promised action to help.

 

He went to Wat Rakhang Khositaram to pay his respects with his entourage that included Jakraphan Pornmitr, a BJP party hopeful in the area.

 

BJP do not have an MP in Bangkok and Anutin wants to put that right. But he said that whatever happened his party would be there for Bangkokians.

At a factory in the Wat Suwannaram community area and meeting joggers at a sports center he continued his already month long campaign trail.

 

Using the stock phrase beloved of Thai politicos he referred to his "phee nong" (brothers and sisters) in the metropolis.

 

He said Bangkokians understood his campaign policies and promises and trust the BJP to deliver after seeing what they had done in the last 4 years.

 

One thing they have done is put a marijuana shop on many street corners and far more in tourist areas; that was an election promise.

 

Though regulations about weed will have to wait until the next parliament after opposition caused the Cannabis Act to stall leaving much of the industry in limbo.

 

One of the key BJP policies in relation to Bangkok is the introduction of a one day pass on vehicle and water transport that would start at just 15 baht and go up to 50 baht.

This would be very popular with voters, suggests ASEAN NOW, especially in these cash strapped times for many.

 

BP also plan to have a one day pass for the BTS only that would start at 15 baht and not exceed 40 baht. That is far lower than many people pay today.

 

His other promises include help with loans and the setting up of a kidney dialysis center to treat people for free as well as help with household utilities, a bugbear for many.

 

Yesterday it was all smiles as Anutin said the underlying numbers of support for BJP in the capital looked good.

 

He also put aside his very public spat with Chuwit Kamolwisit. The former BFFs are not talking to each other after an extraordinary rant by Chuwit and a denial by Anutin that he had offered 50 million baht to to the firebrand whistleblower to help him get votes in Bangkok as reported on ASEAN NOW yesterday.

the joke in all this is that Prayut Anutin Prawit and the rest don't need to get elected or win a vote, all they do is be affiliated to a party usually leader which somehow exempts them from actually being directly elected, it is a fudge and scam of any proper democracy I am aware of, it takes bits of various systems and leaves out the criticle parts that make them fair and functional then fudges them into an unworkable mess - it is a con, the people go out and vote and then wonder why the same people are in charge even though nobody voted for them

He's consistently polling around in 16 place with a meager 3.7% approval rating. 

 

Outside of Burriram he's not only unliked but despised.
