Change of address on work permit

Featured Replies

The new company I will be working for will not take care of the change of address on the work permit from the old company to the new one. Have any of you ever faced this situation? Could you tell me what documentation must be presented and above all the time required for the change to be made? They told me there is nothing to pay: true or false?

Of course I will also ask immigration and the Ministry of Labour, but I'd like to start with knowing something already. Thank you all.

You would have to get a new work permit to change employers after your current one is canceled.

Yes, but they will not cancel it. They let me change the address on it. Is possible or not?

When changing employers it requires a new work permit be issued with supporting documents provided by them.

Who won't cancel it?

Who has said they won't cancel it? The Department of Employment or your previous employer?

Your post is unclear. Is it:

a. Your current employer changing their place of business, or

b. You are going to get a new job with a different employer

If it is option b then you will have to submit a new work permit application. Work permits are not transferable between employers. The new company will have to supply all necessary company documents to enable the application to happen.

There shouldn’t be anything to pay for you because the employer should take care of it. I would be odd to hire someone and then charge him for things that he requires to perform his duties.

Similarly, for any “documentation” required, your employer should take care of this. 98% of the paperwork has to come from them; the only paperwork required from the employee should be the passport, basic personal information, photos, and maybe a CV if I recall correctly. The health check is something they may ask you to get yourself and give it to them but even this should ideally be arranged and paid/reimbursed by the employer. A good HR/employer has a standard process for all this plus people helping you through it.

how was it done by your current employer?
