proud as punch we are here.

have a new road in just 3 days.

dunno who paid for it.

same folks who seem to own the whole block is my guess.

it leads past steve's "Downunder Bar" down to the new "walking street"

and to the new as yet unoccupied "beer bars in the round"

great, coz we really need more street stalls and beer/girl bars.

Lovely. I also like the sheer drop on the sides. Fun in rainy season.

You have to have an element of danger!

Well, all the road construction I have seen has been done this way. Leave a path on the side for traffic, then when the concrete is cured, fill in the sides with dirt and pack it down. But, if it makes you feel better, we can always hope they leave it like that :o

Have a closer look at the photo and you will see it's only half a road, ain't finished yet.Mark, if you bother to look at the sign outside sometime you're in Steve's' bar you might notice it is actually called the Southern Cross Bar.

I noticed a 2 or 3 small bars have opened along that road over the last month or so . I guess someone new the concrete was coming.

I reckon the walking street looks OK in the evenings. Lots of lights, market stalls, restuarants and pubs. Much nicer than dodging lamposts and scooters on the main road.

exciting update.

its not a road ...... its a super-highway!!

the lads are laying it down now as i speak.

but i did notice the odd difference in the reinforcement used.

new bit does not have the rods going across.

sorry about the bad reporting of steve's bar name.

blame it on poor eyesight and early onset alzheimers.

noone knows its name anyhow.

too many b l o o dy aussies around here with stupid names,

outback, downunder, kangaroo, underbackandarounddownthere bar...

still they are better than the incomprehensible english bar names,

Gow and badger??!! Camels Toe??!! Komedy Klub??!!

i do like the Chechnya Chopper Club bar though.
