Random health checks of police at all stations ordered after Sai Mai stand-off

Thailand’s police inspector-general, Pol Gen Visanu Prasarttong-Osoth, has ordered all provincial police bureaux to conduct random checks of the physical and mental health of the men in every police station, in an attempt to ensure that they are healthy to avoid a repeat of the recent armed stand-off in Bangkok’s Sai Ma area involving an officer.

Vital European Union free trade deal with Thailand with stiff demands from Brussels to take time

In January, while on a two-day visit to Brussels, the Minister of Commerce, Jurin Laksanawisit was clear that the time was right to commence talks on a trade deal and that it would be beneficial to Thailand. However, he cautioned that it would take some time to get such a deal over the line and into effect.

The European Commission this week spoke of an ‘ambitious’ free trade deal with ‘sustainability’ at its core.
