The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The court alleges he is responsible for war crimes, and has focused its claims on the unlawful deportation of children from Ukraine to Russia.

It says the crimes were committed in Ukraine from 24 February 2022 - when Russia launched its full-scale invasion.

Moscow has denied the allegations and labelled the warrants as "outrageous".

About time!

Putin the criminal has been poisoning folk abroad, locking up opposition, enriching himself and sanctioning war crimes whilst running a regime that constantly lies with impunity for long enough.

At least now he is labelled and a home-body.

Look forward to seeing the Chinese President meeting his friend the indicted war criminal lol

Who would have thought just over a year ago it would lead to this. President of the worlds largest country having an arrest warrant issued for unlawful deportation of children from Ukraine to Russia.

A symbolic but important gesture and a prayer that those kids will be re united with their families where possible.

That will do a lot of good.

I don't suppose someone in Mother Russia could make a citizen's arrest could they?

The Kremlin slammed the court's decision to issue an arrest warrant for Putin 'outrageous and unacceptable'; in contrast, Ukraine hailed the decision and said 'the wheels of justice are turning'.O

Think they should tread careful. Putin has nukes , they do not

I think Putin will be headed for his palace for a long time.  He'll just order food & drinks in ...

Former international court chief 'confident' Putin will stand trial

A former president of the International Criminal Court said he is confident Vladimir Putin will be brought to trial.

Dr Chile Eboe-Osuji said in every modern instance when an arrest warrant has been issued, somebody ended up in court.

This will corner Putin even more and will make him increasingly desperate and dangerous. Why doesn't NATO deflate the situation first, give Putin a possible  way out of this conflict and once the war is over then go for him?

Lock him up.

Putin has been a serial killer for a long time now. And he has stolen and extorted tens of billions. Now, he is slaughtering women and children. So, yes he is a felon, and has been for a long time, it just took awhile for the international community to label him as such. The world would be a far better place without this monster.

What's next?

Better not make any jokes about Putin, because he's got nukes? Better buy Putin a nice Xmas present this year because he's got nukes?

They had nukes but gave them to Russia in 1994, after they promised that they would respect and protect Ukraine's sovereignty and borders.

Aha!!  The ICC has teeth!

Assassination would make him a martyr and bring out the radicles even more, I would like to see something like President Putin today died from natural causes.....After falling out of a sixth floor window  ????

Because he can stop this war. By burning his bridges, god knows how far he might go.

He already has a way out, if he cares to take it.

Just stop the fighting in Ukraine, retreat from ALL the lands Russia has conquered including the Crimea, return all the Ukrainian children to the Ukraine.

The problem with that IMHO, is that Putin is riding a tiger, and cannot get off without being eaten.

Maybe nothing can be done in the near future but it does give out another

signal from most of the developed nations on earth.

Putin disagrees with you.

What does America not recognizing the Court's jurisdiction have to do with anything?   This is a major court, and being charged is both serious and embarrassing for Putin.   Let's see where he goes the next time he leaves Russia.  His circle of places to go is limited, and most of the places he would be safe traveling to are not going to raise his profile on the international stage.

He's a pariah.

???? I guess some in the USA & France will be next then? Or should they have been first?????

There is a good reason for that ???? They would have been found guilty multiple times for actions in Vietnam, Iraq,Libya,Afghanistan & probably a few more spots
