BANGKOK (NNT) - The Ministry of Commerce has advised customers looking to purchase genuine Hom Mali rice from Thailand to look for certification branding on the package. This recommendation came in response to a report on fake Hom Mali rice coming from China.

Missing caesium-137 detected in foundry in Kabin Buri industrial park

The governor of Thailand’s eastern province of Prachin Buri has ordered the immediate closure of a foundry and declared the plant off-limits to unauthorised personnel after radiation from caesium-137 was detected among other metallic scrap.

BANGKOK (NNT) - China’s ambassador to Thailand, Han Zhiqiang, has predicted that Chinese tourist arrivals to Thailand will surge to over 300,000 in April, providing a major boost to the kingdom’s tourism industry.

Family claim Thai police overreacted when ending armed stand-off

The family of a police officer, who was killed when police stormed his house to end a daylong stand-off last week, are seeking justice from the Office of the Attorney-General (OAG) over what they believe was the police’s heavy-handed handling of the siege.

Last October the Thai cabinet decided to increase the length of the visa waiver for tourists from 64 countries from 30 days. The extension was going to last until March 31, 2023. Here we are, 10 days out, and there’s been nothing, not even a whisper, of an announcement to keep the 45 day waiver continuing beyond the end of March.

DPM Wissanu expects general election to be held on May 14th

Thailand’s Election Commission (EC) may hold the upcoming election on Sunday May 14th, but not later than May 24th, after the promulgation of the Royal Decree to dissolve the House today (Monday), according to Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam.
