Last October the Thai cabinet decided to increase the length of the visa waiver for tourists from 64 countries from 30 days. The extension was going to last until March 31, 2023. Here we are, 10 days out, and there’s been nothing, not even a whisper, of an announcement to keep the 45 day waiver continuing beyond the end of March.

Chinese tourists arrested on kidnapping and extortion charges insist they are innocent

41-year-old Mr Zheng Bo, one of three Chinese tourists who appeared before the Bangkok South Municipal Court on Monday charged with kidnapping and extortion after forcing a Chinese compatriot on the night of March 16th last to transfer ฿3.2 million from a range of financial accounts while held at knifepoint in an Alphard vehicle. All three were remanded in custody by the court until March 31st next as police continue their enquiries.


The victim in the case, a 32-year-old Chinese woman who is studying in the kingdom at university filed her complaint with Thong Lor police on Friday after being kidnapped at 10 pm on Thursday night and held until the following morning in a rented, black Toyota Alphard van.

Caesium-137 already melted, 70 people tested for radiation exposure

About 70 employees at a foundry in the Kabin Buri industrial park and some people living near the plant will be tested by health officials after it was discovered that the missing ceasium-137 has already been melted.

12.4 tonnes of radiation-contaminated metal to be returned to Prachin Buri

A total of 12.4 tonnes of metallic dust, believed to be contaminated with caesium-137, which was being kept at a factory in Rayong, have been ordered to be sent back to a foundry in Prachin Buri.
