Rain and hail storms hit Chiang Mai, causing widespread property damage

 

Several districts in Chiang Mai were hit by rain and hail storms on Saturday, causing widespread damage to houses, utility poles, trees and billboards. There were no fatalities, although one person was slightly injured.

Two killed, 40 students injured in road accident in Sukhothai province

A student and a car driver died and about 40 other students were injured late Friday night, when a bus, taking the students on a study trip, was in a collision with a car in Sawankhalok district of Sukhothai province.

Although sex work in Thailand is a major economic sector for the country, since the 1960 law against prostitution, it is illegal and criminally prosecutable with prison sentences of up to 20 years

Swiss man on the run abroad after underage sex ring and bar in Phuket is shut down in police raid

Scenes from Bangla Road after 8 pm on Wednesday night last week after a police task force including Department of Provincial Administration (DOPA) officials swooped on the Velvet Bar in an extended operation in which over a dozen underage prostitutes were located and two women arrested for running a brothel and procuring minors for paid sex. The business and an extended sex network was directed and owned by a Swiss man according to information given by Deputy National Police Chief Surachate Hakparn on Saturday who ordered that the foreign fugitive be tracked down and brought back to Thailand to face charges.


The Royal Thai Police has, quite rightly, in recent years, prioritised the fight against underage prostitution linked with the human trafficking industry.

The visit aimed to commemorate the 190th anniversary of Thai-American diplomatic relations and the 43rd anniversary of public health cooperation between the two nations.

Thai Tour Guides Unite to Address Issue of Illegal Foreign Guides

A group of Chinese-speaking tour guides convened on Saturday, March 18th, to discuss the trouble caused by illegal guides who are stealing their jobs. The group complained they are being overlooked by the government as their complaints, so far, have not been heard.
