Whistleblower and former politician turned darling of the Thai public, Chuwit Kamolwisit went on Facebook in his continuing war against weed.

 

As well as attacking its chief proponent of its legalization last June - Thai health minister and Bhumjaithai party leader Anutin Charnvirakul.

 

This was reported by Siam Rath who appear to be joining the firebrand former TV presenter in his weed war. they seize the opportunity to report every negative weed story, especially involving under age users.

 

Without providing a shred of his own evidence Chuwit claimed that kids in Thailand were becoming addicted in vast numbers to weed.

 

He said that Thai and US doctors have made studies that show marijuana can't be used for mental health problems.

 

Quite the opposite - weed causes mental health issues.

 

He launched into a tirade saying that weed causes delirium, and many psychotic disorders such as confusion, disorientation, forgetfullness, ringing in the earsn  and paranoia.

 

Far from addressing sleep disorders he said that smoking weed leads to insomnia and panic attacks.

 

Then he claimed that UK studies showed that marijuana users were three times more likely than non-users to develop mental health issues.

 

He challenged detractors to show him the evidence if they disagreed.

 

Yet he had no specific evidence himself, notes ASEAN NOW.

 

He said all this was Anutin's doing.

 

He wondered if his Bhumjaithai party would get into power on the back of it or be sent packing.

 

It is a cornerstone policy of the BJT, reports ASEAN NOW, that dates back to their 2019 manifesto.

 

Chuwit said he would be continuing his war against weed at the Asoke MRT (in downtown Bangkok) at 5.30 pm today.

 

You can bet that the Thai press will be there.

I could be mistaken, but wasn’t this gentleman complaining in February about the health officials inspecting a cannabis shop in his hotel in Bangkok?

So tired of this guy, baseless claims and nonsense while in reality obviously alcohol is a 300X size issue. Also for road deaths on top.

You would think someone with so much money and time at least is very well informed, but he totally is not, they all live in little bubbles. Happy days when these dinosaurs stop to exist.

Yes. And it was found to be legal. ie medicinal use. Not for recreational smoking (which is currently not legal).

Recreational smoking is legal, there are no requirements to have a medicinal card and buy weed are there. Silly anyway, he speaks about 'it is not for curing mental health' while nobody ever claimed that was the objective. So on and so on and so on.

 

I contradict myself on this too, because I actually use specific Limonene terpene strains to help me with ADD (always busy in the head) and that is way better than ritalin for me.

Truth is that can be improved by keeping it legal, studying it, isolating specific things and turning it into a more effective medicines or discovering new things.

Whatever they decide, growing would never stop anymore by now, it would then become a black market. No tax income. Makes no sense at all.

 

Who is this guy anyway, why he get press, nobody asked him. Starts to be boring how he selectively cracks down on things, while its obvious he got rich doing enough himself.

Weed is a plant based medicine. Like most medicine, THC and the other cannabinoids, it actually is derived from a plant, or discovered in plants and then synthesized. THC is NOT suitable as a recreational intoxicant like alcohol and tobacco, as 93% of cannabis consumed is consumed by DAILY and All Day/Everyday users. That is people who use cannabis to self medicate themselves for other medical issues. Khun Chuwit is absolutely correct that it needs regulations and should be handled like a medicine for Adults only. 

Anutin looks like a right plonker. Go to Bangkok or Pattaya and half of the businesses now are cannabis shops. What is going to happen when it becomes illegal again? They'll all have to close and thousands of small business owners and employees will lose income and their jobs. How asinine can you get????????

Oh dear god good try. I suggest a small toke for you, relax and read your bible. I would go for the old testament. Really good novel. Try and read the unabridged version. I might be wrong but burning babies alive springs to mind. Definitely not something someone who has had a chuff would think of doing. Also not sure what the elderly (???????) potheads have to do with it. The one's I have met have been very laid back nice people. Way to go in my opinion. It's the yaba here that's the problem. I'm very laid back thank you very much. I for one suppport the legalisation of all drugs. The Portugal model is something you should look at. Crime down. Prisons emptying. Employment up. Drug dependence down. But you are right I'm not quite laid back enough. Another toke I think.

ps I have read the bible cover to cover and have read an unabridged version of the old testament. I am in no way religious because I think faith is just silly but it is a good read.

I don't understand your point why it is not suitable as a recreational drug

Your posts have convinced me. They have convinced me that Chuwit's description of the negative effects he warns of is correct.

Sorry but this is complete and utter nonsense. It's a herb. You dry and smoke the heads. As for self medication George Bernard Shaw wrote "Alcohol is the anesthesia by which we endure the operation of life". Nice but one could replace alcohol for weed. There would be less societal damage this way.

I am sure that this stuff provides solace to some who have failing health, however the certain truth is that it is quickly becoming abused.  Up in Buriram almost every dwelling has a few plants growing outside.  The kids arrive at school stoned (to quote a teacher friend of my wife).  I mean, hardly surprising is it, given the meaningless of life for so many in this Land.
