Bong shopping -- I'm confused

Not meaning to criticize but i don't understand your point of view.

I hate smoking,it leaves a very bad taste and it also makes me cough.

Anyways i have had trouble sleeping for most of my life and i used lots of

I use it to sleep and to me it is all the same.

Maybe i should start to look a little closer at other options?

Maybe a vaporizer would be ok but do you still get the smoke inside of you?

 

I like CBD oil but the point of smoking is to sample a large variety of different strains to find ones that I like. I left weed long ago (from being a teenaged pothead) but now it's a whole new ballgame and an exciting one.

I would rather not smoke but there are ways to at least limit the exposure. 

The dry herb vape interests me. Still not clear if it's really legal though. 

 

As far as a bong choice, I'm probably favoring a medium sized glass one with a wide base for more water, with an ice rack and carb hole.

You aren’t getting it… You fill the whole thing with snow/crushed ice. That will also have the effect of any water in the base being freezing cold. Try it and then compare with just water in the base. 
I’m not a smoker either, but I tried it and am recommending it to you. But as usual….

I saw that suggestion before and it just didn't appeal to me very much.

I think I did try that in my hippie pothead  days.

I mentioned wanting a bong with an ice rack but that doesn't mean I would actually bother with ice often like for a few hits. Just as an option why not.

I think filling with crushed ice is kind of messy and could easily melt to overflow.

But very cold water sounds good. Could just put it in directly.

I used to think you needed to hold in.weed smoke for a long time but recently read just a second or two gets the full effect.

Is that true?

What about dry herb vaping?

Also don't need to hold the vape in?

Got 2 dry herb vapes, they just don't do the job for me.

Minimal effect compared to smoking.

My thinking now is to try dry herb vaping, see how it goes, and then if I like it don't even bother buying a new bong.

 

I do have a low cost mini bong now which is usable enough but overall not very satisfactory as too small. So if I was going to keep on Bonging going bigger made sense.

 

But again for now maybe no bong at all!

As a broke college student I was infamous for my bucket bong parties.  I rented a big old tumbledown house with a couple of friends.  A total dump but it had a bit of ambience because it was built of timber and had a grand lounge room with an open fireplace. 

 

We would just fill the big old sink up in the laundry room.  Then cut the bottom off a two litre plastic milk bottle.  Stick a stem and cone in the cap and you are done.

The question is will the vape cooked herb have effects.

I read that if it's brown it's mostly used but if less brown still good for eating.

best options are edibles oils and dabs. 

 

dabs are a far safer and cleaner smoke (if the dab is made correctly and clean) than any bong with filtration could ever be. with dabs you are not smoking all the fats waxes lips and sugars that are in the flower. you can also control the temperature of the dab in order to max out proper terpene and cannabinoid delivery. you could also learn to micro dab and find out exact dosage that suits you. along with finding the strain that matches you....you would find yourself quite shocked at how so little can go so far. 

 

there is also no comparison between a dab and a bong hit in regards to the reward(high) you get. 

 

have you ever tried properly made edibles ? tincture drops ?

Now I see that Dynacaps can be connected with an adapter to bongs. That's interesting. The B version shown before has a very small chamber though, .05 gram rather than .1 gram.

AVB = Already Vaped Bud

Search for it on the net for some ideas on what to do with it.  I gave it a try a few years ago, best I could come up with was rinse it through alcohol (isopropyl) then dry it out into tar.  When heated it turns into to liquid, and while doing so the fumes are inhaled.  I managed to mix it with fresh bud and do it in the bong and the effect was like kick-_ss hashish.  The difficult part was dealing with the oozing liquid.  Having to deal with equipment etc while I'm getting my buzz is no fun for me.  A spoon over a candle and a glass straw would work, but I don't have enough arms. As for eating the AVB, the nicest way to describe the taste is godawful. even when doing the graham cracker-peanut butter-chocolate concoction.

Also, doing concentrates raises your tolerance: you may not be able to catch a buzz a day or more after doing some.

There are positives and negatives to the 'half' bowl option. It's very good as a way to learn the dynavap. It takes a bit of playing around and research to figure everything out, but not burning and just vaporizing is a very interesting thing at the least. And as you said, can go through a bong.

 

Look on reddit for opinions on the 'half' bowl.

When the ice begins to melt, pour out the excess water. It’s not rocket science. Water won’t filter much out on it’s own.

I paid 700 baht for a high quality glass bong, which I didn’t bother to use, as I don’t smoke in general. Just wanted something to share with friends if necessary. 
Messy? Are you a girl? Who cares? It’s about the end result. Cleaner, cooler and ‘tastier’.

Might be good for putting in capsules.

You'll eventually belch, guarantee will not make you smile.

I'm not a fan of eating weed.  You seem to be health conscious, I suggest you do some reading of how differently the body breaks down the fumes vs ingesting.

Whenever I clean my bong (maybe a few times a year) I can't help thinking that if I were doing joints all that tar that would have been inside me.

you should see the carbon left over after a short path distillation is done. even with supposed clean winterized material going in i was shocked at the crud left over.

I was looking at bongs because of this thread, and I read that putting the smoke through water actually takes quite a bit of THC out of the smoke so you need to smoke more to get the same high, defeating the purpose. I'm no expert, just reporting something I read.

Defeating the purpose? What is the purpose? I think the purpose is to remove some of the more harmful effects. If there is 50% less tar etc and 10% less THC, that wouldn’t be “defeating the purpose”. 
The purpose is to reduce the temperature, remove some tar and allow you to appreciate what you are inhaling. 
I don’t smoke in general, but I tried with snow filtration. It makes a huge difference.
