I was preparing to take a taxi from Suvarnabhumi airport to Don Meuang but to my surprise I found out that it's also possible to fly with Airasia from Suvarnabhumi to Chiang Mai.

How long is this possible, since I always thought that domestic flights departed from Don Meuang?

By the way as of last week AirAsia stopped flying to Melbourne and probably other destinations as well citing 'operational reasons' and they got me and others stuck in Melbourne until further notice.

Several airlines fly to CNX from BKK Suvarnabumi.  Air Asia started in 2020.

Air Asia

Viet jet

Bangkok air

Thai smile

Approx 25 direct flights total to CNX a day.

Tomorrow Monday, Air Asia has 3 flights.  I prefer Viet jet myself.

Below are some of the flights for tomorrow.

I thought Vietjet had not such a good reputation?

And I looked at their flights, and contrary to Airasia, it looked as if there was a maximum of 15kg for checked-in baggage.

As much fun as the Air Asia departure lounge in Don Muang can be, I still highly recommend flying domestic out of Swampy at least once if only to experience that amazing restaurant that overlooks that huge park.

You thought you were at an airport.  No, you were in a park.  Amazing Thailand.
