Where not to go - Pattaya. I am getting out tomorrow.

Yes. Reports from people in Pattaya would be much appreciated. 

The GF threw some water at me this morning as I was trying to clean up her (messy) dressing table.

Songkran starts on the 13th, tomorrow officially, but I understand the 19th is the BIG day in Pattaya?

So from tomorrow if you go out, be prepared to get wet?

April 12 is the first day, AFAIK. 

 

I'm not going out today. 

Oooh be careful out there. there's a wet patch on corner of Soi6 and 2nd Rd.

Probably just a Soi dog issue though.

I haven't been out yet but my wife says there will be no water throwing today.  She's actually right about most things, so I'll be going out later with no fear of getting wet.

I'm headed out now to stock up on food for the hibernation week. On 16th driving to Bangkok with mates to go see the Van Gogh exhibition at ICONSIAM. That should get me away from the water fights for a couple of days, hopefully. Except for staying in soi Nana.

Correct, but Pattaya take it as its the first day there too?

A very naive post. Have you ever been in Pattaya during Songkran? It is from 11th - 19th April, forget the official dates, they dont apply here.

Soi's 6, 7 and 8 were all playing water.

On Soi Six, about noon today, a couple bars had big barrels of water outside. Ready to go.

 My missus has a very messy mirrored make up unit. Never cleans or tidies it. Never throws out empty make up compacts, lippies, you name it there'll be an empty one there. So you aren't the only one!

 

You were lucky it was only water! When really riled my missus throws anything near to hand, fortunately no knives yet!

Want to place money on that? Pattaya starts unofficially on 13th and if you live out Ban Amphur way like I do, goes on until 21st. I don't care what the official line is.
