Bangkok Marks 241st Anniversary with Cultural Extravaganza

BANGKOK, April 21 – The government invites people to join celebrating the 241st anniversary of the foundation of  Krung Rattanakosin (Bangkok), said government deputy spokeswoman Ratchada Thanadirek.

 

Cultural events and activities are being organized around the Rattanakosin Island, Bangkok’s historic area from April 21-25 to honour and commemorate the benevolence of King RamaI and all kings of the Chakri Dynasty.

 

According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), main locations are the National Museum, the National Theatre, Santi Chai Prakan Park, Ratchadamnoen Contemporary Art Center, Museum Siam, Wat Prayurawongsawat Worawihan, and Bang Lamphu Museum.

Scant details, the Wat fair might be worth a look as they usually have concerts. Probably the usual hi-so nationalist stuff, orchestras and korn, well removed from the culture of most Thais
