As of last week, the government said there were 219 COVID patients hospitalized in serious condition, and 113 requiring intubation in order to breath (as documented in the second post in this thread).

 

I wouldn't call that "almost nothing."

The authorities are correct to be mindful of the risks of COVID spreading among school age children.

That's all the same nonsense some people were saying at the height of covid. All of it was proved false. Masking doesn't work it only causes social problems for kids. Move on the natural immune system is a wonderful thing, let it do its job.

Even an ill fitting mask helps reduce the risk of the wearer spreading COVID compared to the same person wearing no mask.

 

But, both I and the public health agencies recommend people wear the best fitting mask they are comfortable with, especially when in indoors, crowded settings and those with poor ventilation.

It would seem the usual person/s do not understand there is a difference. Go to hospital because of Covid or go to hospital for something else and test positive in the screening process with Covid. It's a very simple concept to understand. Without a proper breakdown we don't know but my guess is a high % would be incidental i.e. not there for Covid but have covid. Why is there no data on this? Why is there no data on comorbidities and age? The figures are just raw figures and without a breakdown of these influences on the numbers it pretty much makes them just an overview. What can't be argued is the numbers are absolutely very, very low compared to the Delta era. We are no longer there. That was the past. Omicron is the present and would seem to be the future. A non-fatal, non-serious virul infection for the majority of the global population.

So why is it that the likes of the UK NHS are sending out messages to get the latest vaccine booster ? Answer is because covid 19 is still lurking in the background and another pandemic is to be avoided , no chances taken . Prevention is better than cure .

I suggest the Thai health Authorities look at the latest guidelines to masking and what they don't prevent!!!
