Thailand's sex workers hope election will change their lives

Featured Replies

Wonder how these ladies would react to being required to pay taxes on their "nightlife income", and if such income is recorded on the books.

Welcome to the land of sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll. What ever happened to LOS? Where has it gone?

"Thailand's sex workers hope election will change their lives".......

My bad. When I first saw the subject I thought it said erections instead of elections. I guess both are changing their lives.

Wishful thinking.

Any proposal that would compromise the RTP’s piece of the action would be a non-starter.

A new law has been drafted following lengthy consultations to bring the sector out of the country's informal and abusive "gray economy" into the formal economy with full rights for the female, male and transgender sex workers. It seeks to replace the existing Prevention and Suppression of Prostitution Act, which was promulgated in 1996 and criminalized sex work.

If this law passes, then perhaps the government will establish a new oversight body for the sex industry, and, provided the position isn't on the list of prohibited occupations for foreigners, I can apply for the job of "Quality Control Inspector."

I think I've finally found my niche in life. ????
