Popular Post BritManToo Posted May 13, 2023 Popular Post Posted May 13, 2023 Beans (40bht) and Tomato sauce (30bht) from Makro, makes around 4 tins of baked beans. (500gm of dried beans becomes 1kg+ of final product) My misses has a pressure cooker .............. so I just put the beans in and add 1" of water over the top of them. Pressed the 'Tua' button (right hand bottom button) 25 minutes later the beans are cooked. Drain beans and put in bowl, add Tomato sauce and a bit of water, stirwell, then in the microwave for 2-3 minutes. Worked out quite well (better if I hadn't burned the bacon). Sauce is a bit sweet, so maybe Rosa Tomato sauce next time. 2 1
Popular Post ThailandRyan Posted May 13, 2023 Popular Post Posted May 13, 2023 Try adding some barbeque sauce in next time for a little kick. They will taste just like BBQ Baked beans, and put a little bacon in with it. 1 2
Popular Post KhunLA Posted May 13, 2023 Popular Post Posted May 13, 2023 Can't remember last we bought canned beans. Especially since we/I only used the beans anyway, rinsing off their krap sauce. Really are silly priced from the can. 2 1 1

KannikaP Posted May 13, 2023 Posted May 13, 2023 What type of beans are they please? They look like the real thing. Can you simply boil the beans until soft?

No pressure cooker = soak overnight in water before cooking. As for what type of beans, the only white dried beans Makro sell. https://www.makro.pro/en/p/miu9jw5-7193009946819 2

Popular Post BenStark Posted May 13, 2023 Popular Post Posted May 13, 2023 Beans (40bht) and Tomato sauce (30bht) from Makro, makes around 4 tins of baked beans (17.5 baht per tin) + 30 minutes electric + hassle + washing cooking pots. 1 tin of Ayam English recipe beans = 49 Baht at Big C extra. Cheaper at Makro. I think I can afford the few baht extra, and just open a can when I want to eat them 2 1

I use Pinto beans and use a spicy Cajun recipe. For me much better than the sweet "baked beans". Has just what you said. 1 1

KannikaP Posted May 13, 2023 Posted May 13, 2023 I like a bit of curry powdwe in my beans, or a spoonful of peanut butter and sriracha sauce = Satay Beans. And the aforesaid Peanut Butter is so easy to DIY. Bag of shelled nuts for Bht 40. Half an hour in a 100* oven til slightly brown, food processor with a bit of oil (coconut) and a dash of salt to taste. Process to your own desired 'crunchiness' Done.
