British Restaurant Referral

I'm interested in an exhaustive menu of British delights.  I've eaten at the Bistro 33 on Sukhumvit Soi 33 quite a few years ago but can't seem to remember much.  That's about the extent of my experience with British restaurants, other than pub food.  I was looking at the Londoner menu online and it looks to offer quit an array of authentic food and seems reasonably priced.  Any suggestions?

Limited where I live so nah luv crusty bread food nice treat for twice a week.

Yes Mr Kwasaki, I love  Ciabatta Italian bread, which is so easy to make, 6 baps twice a week, mainly because there is no bakery within 40km of here.

But, before you write me off, my wife and I previously patronised a restaurant named No Idea on Soi Sukhumvit 22 and very it good it was.

 

Appears that the lease has expired (according to website) and the owners expecting to relocate and reopen in August 2023 and definitely one worth considering.

100% agree.  No Idea is fantastic.  Hopefully the new location will not be too far from where it was before.

I have to admit I am surprised that there is something like British restaurants.

I am aware of pub food, but I don't think I ever saw anywhere in this world a British restaurant. To be fair, I also didn't search for them. But restaurants from lots of nations and regions exist in many places. British restaurants - not so much.

Agreed. There doesn't seem to be any outright British restaurants in BKK but the Western-style outlets do provide what's required, when we read between the lines. 

 

The international hotels also provide a decent representation of Western food, at a price, of course.

Looks scrumptious and perhaps in the future when they reopen.  Thanks.  Not strictly British food, though.

Check out The Londoner.  I've never been there but by all appearances it looks to be the real deal.  The menu looks mouthwatering with a generous selection.  1178 Phatthanakan Rd, Suan Luang, Bangkok 10250

Bistro 33 on Sukhumvit Soi 33 is purely a restaurant and offers British fare, too.

Like I stated in a previous post, there's no outright British restaurants in BKK, although I'm happy to stand corrected.

 

You really need to look at the middle ground and there's plenty of British dishes on the menu.

I had looked at the menu and saw nothing British.  Hence the question re the British fare.  BTW, my slave is alive and well.

The Red Lion is probably the best British pub in Bangkok for food, in my humble opinion.

 

You can't beat the cod and *homemade* chips there.

 

Most other British pubs in the area insult a good piece of fish with frozen chips.

 

Chequers gets my vote too. They have an authentic Cornish pasty in there.

Coming back to my questions above, is there something like a "British restaurant" which is not a pub? Anywhere, not just in Bangkok or Thailand?

I know some pub food like fish and chips or beef and Guinness stew. 

Now is that pub food or British food or both of it?

 

I think Italy has some distinction in the type of food places. There are pizzerias and there are "proper" Italian restaurants. Until now I thought pubs are similar to pizza places in the UK. But do they have "real" restaurants? Or are those real restaurants the type with a French menu?
