Accident Motorcyclist Killed & Homeless Man Critically Injured in Nonthaburi Collision
Picture courtesy of Kaoded. A motorcyclist was killed and a homeless man severely injured in a high-speed collision late night on 21 May, in Bang Bua Thong district, Nonthaburi province. The incident occurred at approximately 23:00, on the outbound side of Kanchanaphisek Road, directly in front of the “Sai Hang Bar” in Bang Bua Thong subdistrict. Local police from Bang Bua Thong Police Station and rescue workers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation responded to emergency calls and rushed to the scene. Emergency services discovered the lifeless body of 41-year-old Mr Danai Butrwangsopa lying in the road. He had sustained a broken left leg and a severe head wound. Around 30 metres away, his yellow Lambretta motorbike (registration from Bangkok) was found lying on its side. Nearby, a homeless man, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, was found with serious injuries, including a fractured left arm and both legs broken. He was transported to Bang Bua Thong Hospital by rescue workers. CCTV footage captured the moments leading up to the crash. The video shows the homeless man walking along the pavement before stepping down onto the road, moving against the traffic flow. At that moment, Mr Danai’s motorcycle, reportedly travelling at high speed, collided with the man, sending the motorbike rider flying into a nearby lamppost. Ms Naiyana Prinram, a local employee at the nearby bar, told authorities; “My friends and I were sitting outside the shop and saw the homeless man walking the wrong way along the road as usual. Suddenly, a motorcycle came speeding and hit him hard. The homeless man is a familiar sight around here, we see him often.” Police have documented the scene and collected CCTV footage as evidence. The deceased’s body has been sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for autopsy. An investigation into the exact cause of the crash is ongoing. Adapted by Asean Now from Kaoded 2025-05-23. -
